LAWRENCE, Kan. - April 7, 2010 - Dan Thompson of Olathe has joined Brown Industries, LLC, as plant manager. Thompson will give leadership to all manufacturing operations for the business's two divisions: Brown Cargo Van and Brown Specialty Vehicles. Both are located in Lawrence. He began Feb. 1.
"Dan's 25 years in manufacturing make him the perfect person to lead our manufacturing operations," says Brown president, Dane Jennison. "Dan's experience in the management of companies much larger than Brown will be a huge asset as our business grows. His diverse background will enable him to direct the manufacturing of our broad product line with an emphasis on safety and quality. We think that our customers who connect with him will appreciate his integrity and work ethic."
Thompson completed a master's degree in industrial management at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Mo., and a master's degree in business administration at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo.
Prior to taking the position at Brown, Thompson held plant or operations manager positions at Marley Cooling Tower Company in Overland Park and Olathe, Kan., ConAgra Foods in Kansas City, Kan., and Taylor-Forge Engineered Systems in Paola, Kan.
Brown Cargo Van and Brown Specialty Vehicles are subsidiaries of Brown Industries, LLC. The business in Lawrence, Kan., manufactures custom cargo van bodies and trailers. Founded in 1946, Brown built the first aluminum dry freight cargo van body, now the industry standard. Its Specialty Vehicle division custom designs and builds vehicles for the mobile medical, law enforcement and telecommunications industries.
